Can Acupuncture Boost General Wellbeing?

General wellbeing can no longer be an afterthought in the world we live in. As we collectively take on more stress and uncertainty in our lives due to events we can’t control, what we used to call “normal” or “good health” is being completely redefined.

Today, being healthy and happy can require you to actively think about ways to address the concerns in your life and achieve balance, despite the many things happening all around us. At Acubody, we talk about this a lot with our clients and help them to build programs that can address certain ailments, but also boost overall wellbeing so that people feel more resilient and strong in the face of the challenges they face in daily life.

One of the specific treatments we explore is acupuncture, and we’ll discuss this today in our post and whether acupuncture is an effective method of improving overall wellbeing.

The Philosophy

The beauty of acupuncture is that it is completely holistic. By this, we mean that it’s not just a useful method of helping with specific pain or ailments (even though it is often used to do this), but it’s also an overall approach that looks at all aspects of the body and mind and considers how overall “balance” can be restored.

Although Western and ancient Chinese views on acupuncture might differ, we certainly see that acupuncture can be a foundational part of understanding the way the body works and finding solutions to make people feel generally better and restored.

The traditional acupuncture philosophy holds that the mind and body are inextricable from each other, where thoughts and emotions of the mind can drive physiological responses. If you also prescribe to this understanding, you’ll see how it could significantly help you with improving your emotional and physical health.

Improves Digestion

Acupuncture is used to help with a number of digestive disorders. It is used to regulate the natural processes of the gut and overcome digestive imbalances. And as you’ll undoubtedly know already, the stomach is closely related to your mind and overall wellbeing. When combined with a healthy diet, acupuncture might be able to support better overall health as well as digestive health.

Achieve Better Sleep

Not getting enough sleep (or the right kind of sleep) is a number one concern for many people. As well as letting your body heal and restore itself, it’s vital for stabilizing your hormones needed to feel happy. Whether it’s through reducing stress or regulating the balance between your body and mind, acupuncture is believed to improve our ability to sleep.
