Acubody Can Help To Relieve Sports Injuries with Sports Therapy

If you have suffered any type of sports injury in London, the specialist therapists at Acubody can help you. A sports massage is based on Swedish massage and it is quite a strong form of deep massage which has the effect of increasing blood flow and circulation, releasing tension, and breaking down adhesions, which some people know as “knots”. In addition, it helps to prevent the formation of too much scar tissue which helps to speed up recovery from soft tissue injuries which can be acquired in any sporting activity.

Sports therapy in London can be used for recovery from any type of repetitive action, which doesn’t have to be associated with a sport by any means. You can benefit from sports massage if you have been digging the garden for too long and have back pain. You could have been undertaking DIY, or perhaps carrying a heavy load for a long distance. You can even have problems as the result of sitting hunched up over a computer for a long time, which is a very common occurrence these days. It doesn’t matter HOW you suffer an injury. If it is as a result of a repetitive action, sports massage can help.

Some people choose a sports massage because it is a deep and strong form of massage, but it can also be used before taking part in an event to tone up the muscles. In this case, we use lighter strokes. This is because deep strokes actually reduce muscle tone, which can have the effect of making the limbs feel heavy. When lighter strokes are used, the effect is to increase circulation and tone up the muscles, so this type of sports massage is perfect to get you into peak physical fitness.

Our sports massage at Acubody also often includes some neuromuscular techniques such as soft tissue release and muscle energy technique. Soft tissue release is similar in some ways to myofascial release as it involves pressure on a muscle and the co-operation of the client in order to relax a muscle. Muscle energy technique is a method of stretching the muscle.

When you have a sports injury, we take a whole-body approach at Acubody and we may suggest using acupuncture in addition to massage techniques. Our therapists have undertaken extra training in order to help our clients to get back into their sport or just regular activities.
