A COMBINATION OF THERAPIES TO RELIEVE THE PAIN OF SPORTS INJURIES

A COMBINATION OF THERAPIES TO RELIEVE THE PAIN OF SPORTS INJURIES

The London sports injury clinic of Acubody Therapies in Holborn can help relieve all sorts of pain cause by playing sport, especially contact sports, but also others, such as golf, where repetitive actions can cause damage. Contrary to popular belief, the pain resulting from sports injuries can also be a result of many other things such as gardening, for example. You can get similar pain from sitting at a desk all day, carrying heavy loads, driving a lorry or another vehicle for very long distances – even when taking all the required legal breaks – repetitive strain injury, and much more.

We see many patients with these conditions and it is probably fair to say that many so-called sports injuries have been caused by other activities rather than competitive sport. Nonetheless, whatever the cause, London sports therapy can have the desired effect in most instances.

When you are suffering pain you are really not at all concerned about what caused it. All you want to do is to get rid of the pain, and that is wholly understandable. Our approach at Acubody can combine a number of different therapies including London sports massage which is based on a form of Swedish massage, acupuncture, and Chinese herbal medicines. The precise therapies that we prescribe will depend on individual circumstances, as each patient’s condition will vary from the next one.

Some people come to us asking for a sport massage because it is a stronger form of massage than others, but the degree of strength involved will depend upon the individual. Indeed, we are sometimes asked to provide a sports massage before the client is due to take part in a sporting contest and in this case we use much lighter strokes because they invigorate blood circulation and help to tone the muscles, whereas deeper strokes can actually temporarily reduce muscle tone.

Our sports massage techniques often include therapies such as soft tissue release (STR) and muscle energy technique (MET). STR uses pressure on a sore or tight point and is a type of myofascial release. MET is a method of stretching the muscle in order to provide relaxation.

Whatever your problem, the various types of sports massage that we provide at Acubody, combined with other forms of Chinese medicine such as acupuncture and Chinese herbs, are all designed to restore your body to optimal health as quickly as possible.
